Hospitalist
Dr. Kalyan Akkineni is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician with over 18 years of experience providing comprehensive care across the River Valley community. A graduate of one of India’s premier medical universities, Dr. Akkineni completed his Internal Medicine residency at Michigan State University before moving to Fort Smith, where he has served the community ever since. Currently, he works as a hospitalist at Fort Smith ER & Hospital, delivering comprehensive inpatient care and coordinating treatment plans throughout each patient’s hospital stay.
Throughout his career, Dr. Akkineni has practiced in a wide range of healthcare settings, including acute care hospitals, rehabilitation centers, Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) facilities, nursing homes, and hospice care. In addition to his clinical work, he has held multiple leadership roles as medical and quality director, helping to guide and improve patient care across several institutions.
Dr. Akkineni is committed to patient-centered care and values building long-term relationships with his patients. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, watching movies, and staying active through outdoor sports.
